A look back shows that those who placed their trust in us were well positioned even in times of crisis. Whether it was the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 or the raw material shortage in 2021 – thanks to long-standing supplier relationships, smart purchasing strategies and a focus on existing customers, we were always able to deliver without compromising on quality. This was no coincidence.
Sawn timber prices are currently rising noticeably: geopolitical tensions and trade conflicts, for example between the USA and Canada, as well as the ongoing shortage of round timber in Europe, are presenting us with new challenges.
In contrast to 2020, there are currently no external factors affecting damaged timber; instead, there is a structural shortage:
- The remaining damaged timber from previous years has been completely processed
- There is a lack of new felling, as many forests need to be preserved and reforested first. Larger cross-sections (e.g. square timber from 40×100 mm) are particularly scarce.
- Customs duties on Brazilian plywood are to be expected (anti-dumping).
- Announced OSB price increases by European manufacturers (+20%).
Overview of current market developments (as of March 2025):
- Pallet wood: 410.5 points – +16% compared to the previous year
- Solid wood for crates/packaging: 218.95 points – +12%
- Plywood: 198 points – +4%, but EU-wide anti-dumping proceedings against imports in preparation (+40% in the best case scenario)
- OSB materials: 107.3 points – +22% (and a further 20% expected)

To make matters worse:
- Tariffs on Canadian sawn timber loom
- China is once again buying more European timber, while freight costs have fallen
- Scandinavia reports historic roundwood prices
